Buoyancy and Bend Restriction
This product has been developed to support, decouple load, and
prevent over bending for tethers and umbilicals used with ROV's,
trenchers, subsea ploughs, flying leads and other equipment. Flex-Lok
outer shells are manufactured from an impact resistant grade of
Flotec syntactic foam. These elements are fastened around
a high-performance polyurethane elastomer inner core that is bolted
around the cable. The number of element can be easily added or subtracted
to give flexible buoyancy content.
Both the buoyancy elements and inner core are cast in half-shell
form to allow the product to be fitted at any stage of vehicle deployment.
Additional elements are then added which interlock with those already
in place. The design of the elements allows each one to move a small
angular distance. When this distance is projected over the length
of the restrictor, the lock up radius is formed. Depending on project
requirements, split Bend Stiffeners are provided at the leading
or trailing ends, assuring a gradual transition in size and stiffness
from the buoyancy elements to the cable.
Take Tether and Umbilical Management to the Next Level
This product is the most comprehensive solution to the problem
of tether and umbilical management in the subsea marketplace. Extensive
F.E.A. and OrcaFlex analysis assure compatibility with your system.
The product is easily removable, and elements can be taken in and
out of the string without the need for complex banding which can
lead to snagging and damage to overboarding tools. As a specialist
manufacturer of both syntactic foams and polyurethane elastomers,
Flotation Technologies is uniquely qualified to provide this product.
