Deepwater drilling and production risers are susceptible
to vortex-induced vibrations (VIV) that can contribute to fatigue
and damage and compromise the service life of the system. Through
a relationship with Lankhorst
Mouldings, Flotation Technologies is offering VIV Suppression
Systems.
Lankhorst Mouldings has developed a Trishell VIV Suppression System
to meet the demanding requirements of both operators and Installation
Contractors providing an effective, low-cost, and installation friendly
solution.
Through design and testing Lankhorst has developed a Trishell system
using three identical pieces providing a self-aligning and fully
interlocking strake. Strakes can be manufactured from either recycled
or virgin polyethylene as well as polyurethane elastomer and marine
growth inhibiting systems depending on the specific needs of the
offshore field.
Low transportation weight and volume reduces costs and storage requirements
Easy quick installation reduces costs in installation time
Vane pitch and height and material choice can be tailored to specific customer requirements
